Job Title: Training Coordinator, Sgt.

Department: Public Safety

Facility: Baylor University Medical Center Dallas

Available Shift: M-F 0800-1700

JOB SUMMARY

The Sergeant is a sworn officer who utilizes organizational and interpersonal skills necessary to interact with citizens and direct-line level Police and Security Officers while ensuring that public safety and law enforcement standards are met. Monitors and maintains positive relations within Patrol Personnel and with other divisions. Displays flexibility in providing support to administration and performing Officer duties as demand dictates. This position involves overseeing the training of police and security officers, along with managing regulatory reporting to TCOLE and DPS. Being a certified TCOLE instructor is a requirement for this role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

  • Scheduling training sessions within the TCOLE training cycle

  • Maintaining accurate records for TCOLE and DPS

  • Adhering to TCOLE/DPS and BSW policies for background investigations on new hires

  • Reporting training activities to TCOLEConducting TCOLE training and orientations

  • Schedules supervises, evaluates, and disciplines Police and Security Officers assigned to set shifts at a single campus.

  • Provides personnel and asset-need input to the Regional Lieutenant/Manager for administrative judgment support.

  • Conducts uniform and equipment inspections and report need for repair or replacement.

  • Performs Police Officer duties as necessary.

  • Resolves problems arising between Patrol Personnel and other Divisions.

  • Professionally handles sensitive investigations and information, safeguarding confidential information obtained through investigation or from Law Enforcement authorities.

  • Excellent interpersonal and public relations skills.

  • Must be able to work under stressful conditions.

  • Able to balance multiple demands and respond to time constraints.

  • Able to work any shift for several locations throughout the system.

  • Must have critical thinking and problem solving skills.

  • Must be able to communicate thoughts clearly; both verbally and in writing.

  • Attain and maintain a minimum passing score of 80% accuracy during firearms qualification and requalification.

  • General computer skills, including but not limited to: using required software applications, data entry, information security, hand held scanning and email.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • EDUCATION - Associate's or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification

  • EXPERIENCE - 3 Years of Experience

  • CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION-

  • Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS within 30 days of hire .

  • Licensed Peace Officer (LPO):State of Texas Peace Officer License (TCOLE Certification)

  • TCOLE Instructor Certification

  • Drivers License (TXDL): If moving from out of state must obtain valid TX DL within 90 days of hire .
