Position Overview

The Tooling Specialist will own and facilitate the procurement duties and responsibilities for Tooling.

  • Generate tooling RFQ based on requirements as mandated by customer job cards and future business plans for GES DFW.

  • Performs Tooling purchasing duties based on job card requirements and GES DFW SOLD schedule.

  • Coordinate with manufacturers when tooling gets an update.

  • MOR generation with link to PO for all programs in work at GES DFW for all tooling requirements.

  • Manage databases for all non-GES DFW tooling including leased assets, loaned assets and customer supplied.

  • Validate serviceable condition of GES DFW tooling to support programs in work.

  • Justifies support for all CAPX tooling requirements including pricing, availability and turn times.

  • Assists with vendor selection prior to the point of purchase.

  • Support sister company AOG requirements to support a/c in work to ensure delivery is not affected as it relates to tooling requirements.

  • Responsible for receiving all inbound tooling in regard to PO satisfaction and inclusion into GES DFW inventory asset base.

  • Maintain traceability of all outbound tooling assets through proof of signature after delivery to ensure all associated costs are captured and to aid closing out service orders to expedite the customer billing processes.

  • Review the current Master Inventory List of GES DFW assets to reduce the number of Purchase Orders generated against the service order and expedite the delivery of tooling to the job.

  • Provide technical data upon completion of research to the Purchasing Department to resolve identification problems which prevent procurement.

  • Ensure all leased, loaned or borrowed assets are disposed properly after completion of each project in a timely manner to support the closing / billing of the service order. This includes linking the tools to the correct service order and operation to ensure timely billing processes.

  • Perform daily review of open material for service order report for overdue tools. Update MOR notes as required for all programs in work at GES DFW.

  • Transport tooling to and from stores or back shops and hangar floor as required supporting project.

  • Document and tracks all shop floor tooling located in hangars and / or back shops for repair/overhaul. Maintain PM (Preventive Maintenance) program for these assets to ensure serviceability to the mechanics on the floor.

  • Track all calibrated tooling to include but not limited to ensuring calibrated tooling is sent out for calibration, once calibrated tooling returns from calibration, tooling is returned to specific location.

  • Maintain open communication with line managers; keeping them aware of what tools are and are not available.

What you need: (Requirements)

Minimum

  • Knowledge of Commercial Aviation Tooling vendors

  • Minimum two (2) years Large Commercial Jet Aircraft maintenance or Tooling experience.

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.

  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

  • Must be able to complete all assigned tasks with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to communicate with all levels of the corporate structure and deal with customers in a manner that will enhance business relations.

Preferred

  • Airframe and Powerplant License

  • Two (2) years’ experience interpreting Aviation Technical Publications.

Physical requirements

  • Physically able to lift fifty (50) pounds, bend, stoop, kneel, stand for prolonged periods of time, walking, climbing ladders and stairs.

  • Normal or corrected hearing and vision are required.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive company vehicles. The candidates driving record will be examined for violations. The results of the driving record review could render the candidate ineligible for this position.

  • Must be able to work assigned schedule with minimal absences.
