Description

Robert Half is offering a permanent position for a skilled Staff Accountant to join their dynamic, rapidly-growing team in the Construction/Contractor industry. The Staff Accountant will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will also be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting throughout the monthly close. Lend your skills towards developing and implementing accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and look over schedules for the reporting processes. This position plays an intricate part in producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This company, based in the North Dallas, Texas area, offers a challenging and multi-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded.

How you will make an impact

  • Assemble journal entries and thorough account reconciliations that include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll

  • Periodic maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries

  • Compose analyses for income statements and monthly balance sheets for management reporting

  • Compose journal entries and conduct the month end close with minimal supervision

  • In-depth experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Prepare monthly financial close workbooks to support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process

  • Coordinate and analyze a variety of financial data, then report it in a way that is useful and understandable

  • Special projects and impromptu reporting, upon request

  • Manage reconciliation, depreciation, and fixed asset ledgers

  • Play a part in a variety of department-wide initiatives

  • Implement, maintain, and adhere to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

  • Manage schedules for capital lease and monthly payments

  • Handle intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation

    Requirements - Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

  • Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions

  • Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

  • Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

  • Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

  • Proven knowledge of Job Cost

  • Microsoft Excel experience desired

  • Account reconciliation experience preferred

  • Experience with Accounts Payable (AP)

  • VLOOKUP experience required

  • Proficiency in Pivot Table

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • Recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

  • Current and relevant ERP system experience
