The role of Sr Mechanical Engineer Automation Responsibilities include all aspects of the automated solution being deployed. Mechanical design from concept to model / drawing completion for moderate to high complexity required. Ability to work and support projects with minimal supervision. In this role, you will be expected to manage small projects with the design, component selection, obtaining quotes, make versus buy decisions for fabrication and assembly, tracking and maintaining schedule adhering to budget, and presenting status at meetings. Expected to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair deployed automation solutions, as well as the specification of robotics PLC's, sensors, thermal management design and temperature monitoring. Ability to run the software and teach robotics positions and vison routines.

Basic Qualifications:

3-5 years of experience with the design process as outlined above. Knowledge of metal fabrication processes and machined parts design, design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA) practices, and utilization of hand tools.

Computer proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Excel and Word

Proficiency with 3D modelling using Creo (or equivalent) and ACAD.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including a basic knowledge and understanding of GD&T.

Capable of working autonomously with limited oversight in a self-motivated manner.

Ability to succeed in a teaming environment with timely problem resolution utilizing a positive, proactive attitude and a strong customer focus.

Ability to obtain secret clearance.

Desired Skills:

Understanding of the product build process.

Ability to work with external suppliers.

Ability to adapt to changing product requirements.

Effective communication skills.

Experience with automation, including motion control, robotics, and sensor specification

Required Education:

Requires a degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).

Typically requires:

A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience

Engineering/Other Technical Positions:

Typically requires a degree in Science,Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
