Raytheon’s Sensors Software Department is looking for a Sr. Principal Software Engineer to perform the duties of a Software Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) for a major program being executed as part of a new radar franchise. As a SW IPTL, you will have the opportunity to work across all engineering disciplines and sub-contractor team(s) to deliver the software capabilities. As the IPTL for a major program, you’ll also have an opportunity to influence and shape the future of the new product line.

Deliverables of the position include:

  • Planning, execution, monitoring and control of software scope in an agile development environment utilizing metrics and data.

  • Collaborate with cross-discipline leads (Systems Engineering, Algorithms, and System Integration & Test), SMEs and architects to ensure the SW capabilities are aligned with the overarching technical scope and schedule.

  • Customer communications focal point for status, TIMs, management reports, and documentation (CDRL) deliverables.

  • Provide metrics based staffing inputs to program and functional management.

  • To successfully achieve this objective, the candidate should have a strong software technical background with systems thinking as well as experience using data to drive decisions.

  • Must be able to obtain Special Access Program (SAP) Clearance.

  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) experience with track record of meeting scope, schedule and budget for large system of systems

  • Experience with complex sensor products is required.

  • Experience in all phases of embedded software product development life cycle and systems integration & test support.

  • Earned Value Management (EVM) experience including being a Cost Account Manager (CAM)

  • Experience preparing cost estimates for SW bids and program EACs

  • Experience in risk and opportunity management, project scheduling (IMS) and execution to meet program needs

  • Existing DoD secret clearance with ability to obtain a Special Access Program (SAP) clearance

  • Education: A Bachelor's Degree with 10 years of relevant, progressive experience in software engineering

    Advanced Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current Top Secret Clearance

  • Experience with Defense Acquisition processes for software systems (RFIs, RFPs, proposals).

  • Experience leading Sensor and Communications product development teams is a plus

  • Experience providing communication and coordination with cross disciplines, customer, and program and functional management

  • Experience with formal data management and configuration management

  • Experience with Agile Development Methodologies and DevSecOps tools, including product backlog development and maintenance

  • Understanding of MOSA approaches

  • Ability to mentor, motivate and influence others

The following position is to join our RTX Corporate, Enterprise Services, Research Center or BBN team:

Requires advanced knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have practical knowledge of project management. Practical to substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work.

Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 8 years experience

Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
