About the role

Under general supervision, responsible for guarding site premises and property. On a routine basis, inspects grounds to ensure security requirements are met. Controls and monitors access to building. May be required to implement parking regulations and report fire and safety hazards. Reports atypical situations to management. May use electronic surveillance equipment.

What you'll do

  • Promotes positive public relations by offering conscientious service to all tenants, visitors, and guests and responding to their requests.

  • Controls access to buildings and monitors activities of visitors.

  • Monitors and controls the building's life safety system and central security panel.

  • Assists in emergency situations (e.g., fire, evacuations, human crises).

  • Advances more high-level security issues to supervisors and managers.

  • Monitors building operations and tours properties periodically during shift.

  • Maintains daily logs and shift reports and adheres to Security Policies and Procedures manual.

  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Certificates and/or Licenses

Have ability to meet licensing or certification requirements.

Social skills

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor and ability communicate clearly and concisely under stressful situations.

Financial knowledge

Ability to calculate simple figures.

Reasoning ability

Ability to understand and carry out general instructions and solve problems in standard situations while applying basic analytical skills.

Other Skills and/or Abilities

Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite. Basic first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (training available). Requires detailed knowledge of all emergency equipment, including but not limited to, Fire Alarm Systems, Fire Pumps, Access Systems, Water Risers, Cutoff Valves, and Electrical Circuits. Ability to walk/stand 8 hours per day, operate an extinguisher, lift 50 pounds, and optimally transport an adult in an evacuation chair or similar transportation equipment.
