AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.

AWS Well-Architected is seeking a Principal Reliability Solutions Architect (SA) who will define and maintain reliability guidance for workloads in accordance with the AWS Well-

Architected Framework. We want to help our customers understand how Well-Architected Framework best practices apply to their workloads to enable operating secure,

resilient, performant, cost efficient, and sustainable workloads while delivering business value.

The transformation from traditional linear distribution architectures to cloud architectures is accelerating at an amazing pace. This principal autonomous role will focus on

customer-facing guidance through remote and on-site engagements, and participation in the global architecture guidance leadership. Your role will be a thought leader and a

community leader within AWS with a focus on the development and improvement of prescriptive guidance that will help AWS customers identify their reliability requirements

for workloads on AWS. You will then be available as a consultant during the development and operational phases. You will work with our product teams to define requirements

and features desired by our customers. You will be a member of the global architecture subject matter experts, ensuring success for customers that develop and operate

workloads in the AWS Cloud. You will also be speaking at AWS events and developing whitepapers, creating and delivering labs, and creating other content, including reference

implementations.

Key job responsibilities

•As a trusted advisor, solve some of the most complex and large-scale challenges faced by AWS customers, ranging from rapidly growing cloud-native start-ups to global

enterprises migrating to AWS.

•As a Thought Leader, provide the focus to a community of Subject Matter Experts to create content that will better deliver prescriptive guidance to AWS Customers. If curation

of guidance from communities is not possible, author the content firsthand.

•Constantly gather feedback from AWS customers to gain a deep understanding of their needs and technical challenges, and to ensure they achieve the greatest value from AWS

as they scale.

•Collaborate, research, develop, validate, and publish customer-facing technical content as reference architectures, best practices, blogs, and other artifacts.

•Collaborate with and support broader AWS teams, Professional Services, and AWS Partners in order to deliver maximum value to customers.

•Influence customers and internal stakeholders to adhere to AWS guidance.

•Present advanced level guidance content to customers. Take part in and lead deep-dive education and technology design exercises to create world-class, Well-Architected

solutions for customer organizations and the AWS Partners who work with them.

•Collaborate with Well-Architected Tool product and engineering team on product definition and bringing new features and capabilities to the platform.

•Lead large organizational initiatives, serving as a key influencer and contributing to strategic planning.

•Program-manage through creating and validating a strategic roadmap as a pillar plan, with multiple completion milestones and reviews.

•Help with uplifting and enablement for implementations and capabilities of customers, while mentoring other AWS field team members.

•Contribute to the growth of the organization by helping to hire, coach, and mentor other members of the team.

•This position can have periods of up to 20% travel.

Basic Qualifications

  • Technical degree required; bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering or related technical field of study.

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience as a Reliability Solutions Architect/Consultant (reviewing, deploying, managing and architecting workloads in a production environment).

  • 5+ years of experience in technical thought leadership within infrastructure or cloud-computing. Experience in publishing technical blogs and papers in the field of cloud

  • reliability best practices.

  • Have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical solutions.

  • Ability to work effectively and globally, across internal and external organizations.

  • Ability to mentor, coach, and develop emerging technical resources.

  • Program management experience.

  • Excellent writing and influential communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant industry and technical cloud certifications (AWS Solutions Architect Professional).

  • Knowledge of AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery, AWS Resilience Hub (ARH), AWS Fault Injection Simulator (FIS), Amazon Route 53 Application Recovery Controller (ARC).

  • Experience with Chaos Engineering, Disaster Recovery, General Resilience, High Availability, and Observability for Resilience.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $146,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $284,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
