Description

We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Medical Scheduler in the healthcare and social assistance industry. The role is based in Dallas, Texas and will entail providing crucial support within our team, focusing on patient care coordination and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Obtain complete and accurate medical history from patients or their family members, leveraging your knowledge of medical terminology and diagnosis coding.

• Showcase your organizational skills by handling multiple tasks, prioritizing them effectively.

• Work independently as well as collaboratively with team members in a fast-paced environment.

• Make extensive use of the telephone and computer for communication and data entry purposes.

• Engage professionally with customers, acting as a representative for the imaging center.

• Call patients to update medical histories and confirm appointment times and preparations for exams.

• Screen patients for contraindications to MR or CT contrast and advise the respective departments of potential problems.

• Handle confirmation paperwork accurately and efficiently, ensuring all data is entered into the Radiology Information System (RIS) and Word.

• Inform patients of their insurance benefits when there is no out-of-pocket expense or it is covered by Medicare and a supplement.

• Attend and participate in staff meetings, making suggestions on ways to improve efficiency and accuracy.

• Adhere to OSHA guidelines pertaining to Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazardous Communications, Safety Data Sheets, and Emergency Preparedness.

• Work with Supervisor and Compliance Committee to ensure Compliance Program is followed.

• Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements • Must have a strong understanding of the healthcare industry, particularly within hospitals and social assistance contexts.

• Experience in contacting patients as part of the care coordination process.

• Ability to manage surgery scheduling effectively, ensuring smooth patient experiences.

• Familiarity with healthcare-related regulations and standards.

• Strong organizational skills for managing multiple tasks and responsibilities.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills to interact professionally with patients, family members, and health care team.

• Proficiency in using healthcare software and systems.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.

• Willingness to participate in continuous learning and training opportunities.
