Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Responsible for selection of test methodology with regard to patient population (infants, toddlers, adolescents and adults) being tested

  • Verify test procedures for precision and accuracy

  • Monitor participation in a proficiency program, approved by Clinical Laboratory Improvements Amendments (CLIA)

  • Establish and monitor a quality control and preventative maintenance program

  • Resolve technical problems and ensure that remedial actions taken are proper

  • Evaluate competency and identification of training and inservice needs of testing personnel

    Required Skills/Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in a Chemical, Physical or Biological Science or Medical Terminology required

  • Must be a registered Medical Technologist (MT) and be ASCP certified

  • Minimum 3 years of experience required in a laboratory with strong emphasis on Q.C., P.M., and all technical aspects involved

  • Ability to understand and work with children of all ages when blood specimens are collected

  • Mechanical and technical inclination to operate and repair instruments
