Metlang Cleared Linguist in Dallas, Texas

Metlang is a veteran owned provider of interpretation, translation, and monitoring services to the law enforcement community nationwide. Since 1990, Metlang has been the nation’s leading provider of these services assisting law enforcement with their investigations into narco-trafficking, counterfeiting, terrorism, fraud, and money laundering. We offer rewarding project-based employment on-site and employ experienced bilingual professionals with advanced or expert level foreign language fluency in over 100 languages and dialects.

We are currently seeking linguists with experience monitoring for the Department of Homeland Security Investigations (ICE). While this position is contingent upon a contract award from ICE (hourly rate starting at $26.22 per hour), candidates who meet the requirements for DEA (hourly rate starting at $33.11 per hour) can be processed for the same position under our existing contracts with the DEA. Both opportunities offer a weekly payroll system with competitive pay rates, major medical insurance, 401k retirement account, paid sick time, paid vacation and 11 paid federal holidays.

Schedule:

  • 8-hour shifts

  • Day and evening shifts

  • Rotating schedule

  • Weekday and weekend opportunities

  • Part-time and full-time opportunities

  • Availability to travel locally, in state and out of state is a plus!

    Requirements:

  • Fluent in English and Spanish or another language.

  • Clear, concise, effective written and spoken communication skills in English and applicant language.

  • Experience monitoring, analyzing, transcribing, translating, and interpreting for projects with ICE.

  • Ability to summarize, translate and interpret live audio and text, including slang and colloquialisms, in a real time manner.

  • Adequately prioritize tasks while demonstrating attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office and ability to adapt to multiple government operating systems.

  • Up to date understanding of modern social media and text messaging terminology in English and applicant language.

  • Typing abilities to exceed 40 words per minute.

  • Capable of adapting well under pressure and functioning cohesively in a team environment.

  • Candidates must pass writing, reading, listening, and speaking language tests in English and candidate language or provide prior test results as required by contract.

    Applicants selected will be subject to a government security background investigation and must meet eligibility and suitability requirements.

    Physical Demands:

    These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the Linguist job. They include the ability to talk, hear, see, sit for extended periods of time, use hands and fingers to handle and manipulate keys on a keyboard or telephone pad, stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
