If so, the Amazon Global Transportation Controllership team is looking for an experienced Business Intelligence Engineer with a strong record of achieving results, to partner in building out our financial systems to support our global transportation network.
As an Amazon BIE you will be on the forefront of designing and testing Amazon's transportation financial systems that will allow our businesses to scale across the globe. You should have deep expertise in the design, creation, management, and business use of large datasets. You should have excellent business and communication skills to be able to work with business owners to develop and define key business questions, and to build data sets that answer those questions and work with cross functional teams to design solutions. Above all you should be passionate about bringing large datasets together to answer business questions and drive change.
Key job responsibilities
Design automated processes for in-depth analysis databases.
Design automated data control processes.
Collaborate with the software development team to build and test the designed solutions.
Learn, publish, analyze and improve management information dashboards, operational business metrics decks and key performance indicators.
Improve tools, processes, scale existing solutions, create new solutions as required based on stakeholder needs.
Provide in-depth analysis to management with the support of accounting, finance and transportation teams.
Participate in annual budgeting and forecasting efforts.
Perform monthly variance analysis and identify risks & opportunities.
Deliver products that exceed customer satisfaction, ensure data accuracy and completeness, automate manual tasks and develop efficient data pipelines.
A day in the life
Work with the largest dataset in logistics management in the world to drive business insights, support operations and build analytical solutions for partners which can help drive cost control and decision making. As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will be working in one of the world's largest and most complex data warehouse environments. You will design, implement and support scalable reporting solutions to integrate with multi heterogeneous data sources to retrieve, curate & aggregate data that can be used in reporting, analysis, ML models, GenBI and ad-hoc data requests. You will be exposed to cutting edge AWS big data technologies.
About the team
Transportation Controllership is a global finance team responsible for Financial Reporting and Payment Audit in the transportation space, including import, domestic inbound, warehouse transfer, and outbound shipments. We partner closely with transportation business units and tech teams as to continually refine and scale the business to keep pace with Amazon's rapid growth. Along with our partners in Accounting, we are responsible for the contractual and managerial closing the books on Transportation spend.
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
Bachelor's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field
Experience developing and presenting recommendations of new metrics allowing better understanding of the performance of the business
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift
Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
Experience with forecasting and statistical analysis
Experience in discovering business requirements and creating insightful dashboards tailored for various levels of the organization, including senior leadership.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
