Amentum Software Engineer in Dahlgren, Virginia

Amentum is seeking a Software Engineer at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), Dahlgren, VA. If you enjoy bringing forth new ideas, being innovative with software development and sustainment and working with a skilled team on leading edgework, we want you.

Software Engineer Responsibilities Include:

  • Coding weapon controls capabilities / functionalities for the improvement of existing system baselines and the integration of new technologies for future planned baselines

  • Proposing and demonstrating technical approaches in alignment with military standards and specifications

  • Debugging and conducting root cause analysis for system anomalies observed in fielded and development systems

  • Working within an Agile Scrum Team to ensure Sprint tasking objectives are met

  • Adhering to prescribed configuration management for all coding

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline.

  • Five (5) years of experience in software engineering applied to program development, modeling, and/or simulation.

  • Two (2) years of experience with Navy or Joint systems.

  • Must have an Active SECRET US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a SECRET Clearance.

  • Demonstrates understanding of technical aspects required to develop large complex software-intensive systems.

  • Proficient in software development using at least two (2) of the following: Windows, various Linux distributions (e.g., Red Hat), C/C++ and Java programming languages.

  • Ability to write unit tests for Java and/or C++ user interfaces.

  • Willing to develop software using pair programming and swarming techniques under agile processes.
