Vectrus Software Engineer in Dahlgren, Virginia

Overview

This positions requires the ability to obtain a DoD SECRET level clearance.

We're seeking dedicated innovators and achievers to help us expand on our mission to provide high quality software solutions in the areas of RF modeling/simulation, spectrum sharing, and interference deconfliction applications. As a Software Engineer at Vectrus, you will provide support to multiple DoD Program Offices as well as our commercial customers. You will perform as a key member or our software development team to develop full software applications, RF modeling applications, quick-response custom tailored software applications, and many other related software engineering tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate within an agile software development process with other software engineers, subject matter experts and stakeholders.

  • Develop software applications, tools and code bases that provide RF spectrum modeling and interference deconfliction functionality.

  • Implemention of RF propagation and clutter models from specifications such as an International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Recommendations.

  • Development for RF M&S, large dataset handling, simple Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) functions, parallelization, and quick application development.

  • Generate software documentation such as: Software Management Process, Validation Plans, Configuration Plans, Description and Requirements, etc.

  • Coordinate with customer to ensure problem solution, appropriate risk reduction, and user satisfaction.

  • Update applications, databases and tools for customers with changing direction.

  • Work with the team to conduct software engineering best practices, such as: code reviews, unit testing, and software static analysis.

  • Implement software development process metrics.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Data Science or related STEM field.

  • Software engineering experience writing software for a science or engineering projects.

  • Individual must be able to analyze information; design, develop, and document software;

  • Successful design, development and implementation of multiple software components and systems.

  • In-depth knowledge of one or more languages such as MATLAB, Python, C#, C++.

  • Experience in solving challenging technical problems.

  • Individual must be a self-motivated performer and work well both as an individual as well as in small groups to accomplish unique mission objectives.

    Desired Qualification:

  • Previous experience developing in MATLAB or C#.

  • Previous experience performing RF Modeling & Simulation.

  • Understanding of the complete software development life-cycle.

  • In addition to development experience in Windows, basic knowledge of Linux operating system is desired.

  • Prefer to have experience with:

  • Source control tools such as git.

  • Software lifecycle management tools such as Azure DevOps or JIRA.

  • Writing unit tests.

  • Performing code reviews.
