SAIC Software Engineer Senior in DAHLGREN, Virginia

Description

SAIC is seeking a Software Developer with C++ experience to to join the Advanced Hypersonic Weapons & Guided Munitions Division (E20) to support software development of Naval gun weapons systems in Dahlgren, VA . The software engineer will develop, update, and maintain software on Linux platforms. Software team executes maturing agile processes to iteratively design and develop necessary changes to maintain, fix bugs, and add new features. Developers on the team provide change support for the full lifecycle: design, implementation, test, and verification alongside other team members specialized in design, testing, data analysis, and development. The position will interface with weapons design analysts, and technical personnel to clarify program intent, identify problems, suggest changes, code, and develop documented solutions.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Provide software development, modification, production, and maintenance of weapon system modeling libraries.

  • Work closely across software engineers to develop and test rapid prototype systems using an Agile development method.

  • Support and develop test procedures to test system functionality and generate software troubleshoot reports.

  • Prepare documentation and support configuration management guidelines.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years related experience. Degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline preferred. Years of experience accepted in lieu of a degree.

  • Professional technical experience with C++ with specialized experience performing software design, coding, and compilation of code; debugging; computer or software requirements management, and computer systems or software integration.

  • Experience related to weapons systems and/or Navy programs and C++ 11 preferred.

  • Experience with developing and debugging on large code base, complex, distributed systems.

  • Proficient on developing on Linux and migration of code base to Red Had distribution.

  • Ability in cross-language proficiency, ability to inspect, modify, and code in other languages as necessary (e.g., Python, Bash Scripting, JavaScript) is preferred.

  • Ability to work independently and interface professionally with other government agencies, contractors, military personnel.

  • Ability to define task details, estimates, and schedules using Microsoft Office products (e.g., Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Word).

REQUIRED CLEARANCE:

  • Must be of U.S. Citizenship with an ACTIVE Secret security clearance
