Job Summary:

The Engineering Technician II performs standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations, follows standard work methods on recurring assignments but receives explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignments. Technical adequacy of routine work is reviewed on completion; non-routine work may be reviewed in progress.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Follows specific instructions, assembles or constructs simple or standard equipment or parts, services or repairs simple instruments or equipment.

  • Conducts a variety of tests using established methods, prepares test specimens, adjusts and operates equipment, records test data, and points out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors.

  • Extracts engineering data from various prescribed but non-standardized sources, processes the data following well-defined methods including elementary algebra and geometry, and presents the data in prescribed form.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of full-time professional experience as an Engineering Technician, performing the following skills:

  • Welding (mig, tig, stick, and gas) or machine operation (lathes and mills), sheet metal fabrication, interpreting models and drawing packages, knowledge of machinery or welding fixture applications.

  • Basic knowledge of CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks and CAMWorks, basic CNC programming skills, create drawings from preliminary design and/or field notes, performs basic drafting and design calculations and minimal instruction needed to create/modify documentation.
