Key Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience with software development

  • Experience with image and video processing, video capture/playback, or media processing pipeline

  • Experience with media formats(HEVC, H264, JPEG, etc)

  • Experience with developing media SDKs, frameworks and customer facing APIs

  • Excellent programming skills and proficient with one of the programming languages: C/C++, Objective-C, and Swift

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Strong problem solving and analytical thinking skills

  • A strong focus on end user experience

Description

The Vision Products Group (VPG) is looking for a forward-thinking Software Engineer in the video industry to work on next generation media technologies. As a member of our fast-paced group, you will have a unique opportunity to work with a fantastic team and create products that will delight and inspire millions of Apple’s customers every day. We are a team of media processing experts and specialists who are looking for a motivated individual to join our team and develop next generation media processing pipeline and framework for Apple Vision Pro! As a Media Software Engineer, your responsibilities include: -Design and develop media processing software frameworks and SDKs for Apple Vision Pro and new AR/VR products -Optimize media processing pipelines by minimizing utilization of critical hardware resources(GPU, CPU, memory, etc) -Analyze software issues, and develop fixes for software anomalies -Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams(software, hardware, algorithms and UX) to create ground breaking technologies and systems -Present results clearly and discuss design and implementation effectively

Education & Experience

-BS CS/EE or equivalent, higher degree is preferred

Additional Requirements

  • -Experience with hardware assisted acceleration, performance analysis and optimization is helpful

  • -Experience with file formats (mov, mp4), codecs (H.264/AVC, HEVC) and Video streaming (MPEG Dash/HLS) is a plus

  • -Experience with Computer Vision, AR/VR is a plus

  • -Experience with 3D rendering, 3D Graphics APIs or GPU compute is a plus

Pay & Benefits

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $170,700.00 and $300,200.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
