Friends Aware Inc Employment Services Manager in Cumberland, Maryland

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Develops opportunities for competitive integrated employment.
  • Attends civic organization meetings/activities i.e. Chamber of Commerce, One Stop Job Center, Allegany County Transition Council, for the purpose of networking and creating opportunities for job seekers.
  • Is knowledgeable of Supplemental Security Income and Social Security Disability Insurance rules and work incentives and implements such where applicable.
  • Cooperates with the Director to ensure all aspects of the program meet the standards expected by the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA), the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS), and the Department of Labor (DOL).
  • Chairs the Employment Services Work Group/Admissions Team.
  • Gathers supplies, resources, educational materials etc. to successfully provide training and teach employment skills to job seekers.
  • Documents all employment related activities appropriately.
  • Completes billing for the Department of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) when necessary.
  • Attends planning and Person-Centered Plan (PCP) meetings when applicable.
  • Develops and facilitates employment related activities such as role-playing scenarios, job skills trainings, communication activities, tours of businesses etc.
  • Completes discovery related assessments as outlined in theAssociation of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) Training.
  • Assists job seekers to create resumes, visual resumes, complete applications, conduct informational interviews with businesses etc.
  • Communicates effectively with and coordinates the efforts of various persons

working on behalf of the job seeker, maintains communication regularly with the job seeker, direct care staff, parents/caregivers, Coordinator of Community Services (CCS), the nurse and other generic agencies or service providers, and supports the job seeker to communicate effectively to advocate for themselves.

  • Keeps the Director informed of each job seekers status, including but not limited to: health, employment, relationships, financial, behavioral difficulties and Person-Centered Plan (PCP) implementation.
  • Supports employed individuals in learning new job tasks and developing natural supports to successfully maintain employment when needed.
  • Completes follow up with employers and individuals employed as outlined in their Person-Centered Plan (PCP) and required by Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA).
  • In conjunction with relevant staff, screens and interviews applicants.
  • Sets specific job objectives and annual professional goals; ensures that staff know what is expected and the standard by which they will be appraised.
  • Observes staff and provides counseling/demonstration on appropriate training methods, behavioral methods, communication, etc. with job seeker.
  • Implements disciplinary action per agency employee handbook and agency policies and procedures.
  • Schedules and conducts regular staff meetings to convey information, make assignments and monitor activity.
  • Conducts staff performance evaluations in a timely manner.
  • Reports to the Director the quality of staff interactions.
  • Reports health/safety issues to the Director immediately.
  • Assumes all duties, in the absence of the Director, necessary to provide employment services without interruption including involvement in crisis situations.
  • Reviews incident reports and provide follow-up documentation, where applicable.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications
  1. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  2. Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  3. Ability to read and interpret regulations.
  4. Effective negotiation and conflict management skills.
  5. Able to assist in crisis situations.
  6. Knowledge in Windows based software (ie.: Word, Excel, Publisher, Internet Explorer, etc.) and an ability to learn and ffectively use other software applications within agency designated time frame.
  7. Must possess typing skills sufficient to be productive.
  8. Valid drivers license, with an agency approved driving record.
  9. Must be able to obtain the Certified Employment Support Professional Certification (CESP), the Certified Medication Technician Certification (CMT), the Department of Transportation Certification (DOT) and complete Developmental Disabilities Association (DDA) Required Trainings, the Employment Specialized Trainings, as well as theAssociation of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE)Training.

Education and Work Experience:

Minimum of an Associate Arts Degree or equivalent college hours and two years of relevant experience. Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Human Services, Management, or Business preferred.
