UPMC Western Maryland is hiring an Echosonography Student Tech to join our Cardiology department!

As the Student Tech, you will perform imaging procedures at a technical level under the supervision of a registered technologist, incorporating learning and education with the performance of tasks to assist the technologist in their responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Creates Cardiovascular MR, Echo, Nuclear Cardiology, or Vascular exams and enters patient information in the Cardiology or Vascular Information Systems.

  • Assist the Technologist in performing modality-specific exams.

  • Depending on modality, may utilize complex imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, reconstruction, and documentation of image data and complete procedures according to protocol under the supervision of a Technologist.

  • May assist Technologist in setting up contrast in Cardiovascular MR however, will never be responsible for loading or priming the injector.

  • Assist with positioning and performing exams.

  • Follows Radiation Safety standards and protocols for Nuclear Cardiology.

  • May perform daily equipment inspections and quality control under the supervision of a Technologist.

  • Maintain clinical proficiency for all completed competencies and equipment skills.

  • Must be an active 2nd year student in ARRT, ARDMS, CNMT, CCI or NMCTB approved school. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation OR Basic Life Support CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
