Sony Pictures Entertainment Sr. Financial Analyst, TVP in Culver City, California

The Senior Financial Analyst will be part of the Financial Operations Group which oversees the Order to Cash processes for Worldwide Distribution and TV Production Finance. The goal in this role is to ensure that financial business functions are streamlined through automation, training, development, and standardization of current and emerging business requirements. This entails having an integral part of vetting new business initiatives and decision support. The Senior Analyst will be an integral part of the team, collaborating closely in person with cross functional Sony teams to create and manage tight cash and revenue goal deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze TV Production agreements to interpret calculations for license fee and co-production billings and finalize seasonal TV production show costs by working with cross functional teams.

  • Work with Financial Executives to determine Network Breakage and Publicity billing calculations.

  • Gather all pertinent back up and process billings on a timely basis.

  • Lead off shore team in billing.

  • Validate and generate adjustment entries to resolve sales order variances reported by customers.

  • Work with cross-functional groups to help troubleshoot and identify the root cause of billing problems identified.

  • Analyze and collate monthly Residual output in order to provide various networks the calculation breakdown per episode and collect on the reimbursements.

  • Process Credit Memos for Network billing and verify that submissions contain all the required support and COFA approvals to comply with SOX.

  • Digest development agreements and track script steps to forecast.

  • Extrapolate extensive data through queries.

  • Manage various monthly AR and Bad Debt reports for TV Production and coordinating with cross functional teams to reduce open AR metrics and KPIs.

  • Provide business decision support through TVP expertise and data analysis.

  • Collate complex calculations across all lines of business to ensure completeness and accuracy of monthly revenue summaries and projections.

  • Ensure business requirements for new system improvements and enhancements are met by providing test results and end user feedback to IT/developers.

  • Prepare ad hoc analysis and reporting.

    Education, Years of Experience, Specialized Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • B.S./B.A. Finance and/or Accounting degree

  • 3+ years TV Production Accounting experience

  • Ability to read and interpret complex agreements and guild contracts

  • Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment

  • Flexible and able to operate effectively, accurately, and efficiently in a dynamic cross functional team environment

  • Ability to take initiative and efficiently complete tasks

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both oral and written

  • Understanding of accounting and financial policies and principles

  • Demonstrates proactiveness and strong follow-through skills

  • Experience in SAP is a plus
