Cuyuna Regional Medical Center * Med/Surg Crosby, MN Nursing Part Time Over, 12-hour Night Shift FTE: .6 FTE (48 hours per pay period) Weekend Requirements: Every 3rd weekend Posted 02/06/2024 Req # 12957 $10,000 ASN or $15,000 BSN Signing Bonus POSITION SUMMARY Registered Nurses on the Medical/Surgical unit provide direct care to patients and are a part of all care given by other departments. They will support the Swing Bed Unit to include providing a stable, rehabilitative environment for patients to recover over a short-term period and post hospitalization short-term rehabilitation. The nursing staff work closely with other modalities to provide treatment services in a structured, therapeutic environment. Registered Nurses must continually strive to provide the highest quality of care possible for the patients. They must also lead the nursing team toward the achievement of the goals of the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center. High quality care and overall efficiency are essential components to this success. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Previous experience preferably in acute care setting preferred. Inhouse Trauma Training that meets state approved criteria within one year of hire. License/Certificates: Current Minnesota RN License. American Heart Association BLS certification required within 30 days of hire. American Heart Association ACLS certificate required within 4 months of hire. For Charge RN: Must have valid MN Driver's License. NRP and PALS required within 1 year of hire. Special Skills and Aptitudes: Knowledge and skills to implement nursing theory. Demonstrates mature judgment, initiative and proficiency in nursing skills. Demonstrates leadership qualities and executive and organizational abilities. Ability to lead and supervise resident/patient care team. Ability to interact effectively with physicians, patients and family, staff and other healthcare providers. Ability to adapt resources to the needs of the situation. Knowledge of applied science principles in nursing situations involving techniques and procedures, hygiene and safety measures. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to recognize manifestation of physical and emotional problems. Knowledge and skills to review charts and enter data efficiently. Teaching ability and ability to work independently using good judgment. Ability to properly and safely operate all equipment required for this position. Knowledge and use of community resources. Maintains good physical and mental health. May be assigned to specialty areas. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES RN: Exercises concern for the patient's welfare, maintains knowledge of the patient's condition, administers medication and performs treatment while practicing and maintaining high ethical standards. Responsible for the direct and indirect care of residents/patients assigned to her/him under the guidance of the Chief Nursing Officer and/or the Nurse Manager. Maintains accurate and complete records of nursing assessments and care and counsels of the patient and family in meeting nursing and related needs. Remains up-to-date on new nursing skills and technology utilizing the nursing process (observation, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in the delivery of care. Performs duties in accordance with physician's orders, the Medical Center's policies, methods, and techniques, and in coordinating with other departments and Medical Center personnel. Provides leadership and promotes teamwork. When requested, participates in in-service programs, education programs, and orientation of new personnel. Demonstrate Standards of Excellence when other duties are assigned. Charge Nurse: Assesses staffing requirements and makes assignments based on acuity and census and ensures adequate and safe staffing for each shift. Handles bed control for admissions, discharges and transfers. Assists and supports staff with all levels of patient care delivery, including Medical, Surgi al, ICU, OB, and ED. Performs pharmacy duties as appropriate when pharmacist is not available. Coordinates and directs the daily patient care operations for the department of nursing. Analyzes workloads and skill requirements to meet patient care needs. Assesses staff competencies and makes patient care assignments. Delegates appropriate tasks to appropriate personnel, consistent with legal and professional guidelines and departmental standards. Maintains clear communications with the Chief Nursing Officer and Nurse Manager regarding nursing needs and/or incidents. Serves as a resource person in all identified areas. Completes initial individual unit competencies appropriate to charge nurse role. Maintains competency by both seeking out opportunities to work in these areas and completing unit specific ongoing education. Assists with patient care as needed. Identifies appropriate internal controls for department; provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance. Acts as a facilitator for employee experiencing on the job injuries, connecting them to appropriate resources. Postpartum RN: Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate mother and infant care plans. Provide consistent optimal care to mother and baby to include assisting with hygienic needs of mother and baby, assessment of mother's pain, timely and accurate mother and infant vital signs, and mother-baby bonding. Involve family/significant others in implementing best practices for mother and infant care. Record all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner.
