Our business is growing, and as such we are on the search for a high achieving Operations Director. The successful candidate will be a senior manager experienced within a transport/logistics background with pallet network operational knowledge as well as managing multi sites & multi products. Pay, benefits and more:

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £75,000 per annum,company car/car allowance and company bonus. In addition, we offer 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days. What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Accountable for the compliance, operational & financial performance of the Regional Partner network across the UK.

  • Develop and deliver a Subcontractor Strategy for the LTL network focusing on value, compliance & service.

  • Lead the LTL Compliance & Training team, promoting continuous improvement whilst ensuring legislative and Company standards are upheld.

  • Promote a safety culture throughout the LTL network, leading by example and actively participating and supporting safety campaigns and initiatives.

  • Provide operational leadership to the team by setting achievable goals and encouraging innovation.

  • Develop and demonstrate a clear understanding of closed book financial and operational metrics to ensure the network delivers the right balance of cost and service.

  • Actively champion engagement and welfare across the LTL network with focus on colleague retention and minimal attrition.

  • Interaction with internal and external customers to understand their requirements and identify opportunities to expand current relationships.

  • Ensure sites are compliant with all legislative and internal processes and procedures, taking timely and appropriate action where this is not the case.

  • Encourage and support development and progression within the team and devise a clear succession plan across each site.

  • Maintain a visible presence across the network, understanding the various service offerings and complexities of the shared user operation and developing a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Active participation in existing daily processes including network calls, finance reviews & QSHE meetings.

What you need to succeed at XPO:

  • Essential - Senior management experience within the transport / logistics sector with pallet network operational knowledge

  • Desirable - Multi-site and multi-product experience and business turn-around experience

Knowledge:

  • Transport / logistics operational knowledge

  • Economic climate and competitor activity

  • SHQE practice as applicable to the transport industry

  • Network operational knowledge – understanding how flows affect each site within a network environment
