Amentum Electrician Maintenance in Creech Air Force Base, Nevada

Amentum is seeking an Electrician Maintenance for the North of Las Vegas area.

Purpose and Scope:

Lead position provides work direction to assigned Electricians. Perform a variety of electrical trade functions such as installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy. Able to decipher and repair electrical problems that arise due to faulty generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems or other transmission equipment. Must be able to work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications, locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical systems or electrical equipment. Must be able to perform standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment. Must be proficient in the use of electrician hand tools and measuring and testing equipment. Electrical safety is of paramount importance. Must completely understand the Lock-out-Tag-out program; Must have the ability to obtain and retain a security clearance as required by the customer. Position is represented by a Union Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Installs or repairs any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment.

  • Install, test, maintain and repair fire safety and security systems, such as fire alarms and suppression systems that ensure the safety of occupants of both residential and commercial facilities.

  • Working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications, locates and diagnoses trouble in the electrical system or equipment.

  • Works standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment. Works with minimal supervision and guidance.

  • Respond to service calls within the allowable time frame. Participation in Quality Control and Safety Program. Must adhere to the Lockout/Tag out Program.

  • Perform daily checks on company provided vehicle.

  • Able to decipher and repair electrical problems.

  • Working from blueprints, drawings, layouts or other specifications to locate and diagnose trouble in electrical system or equipment.

  • Remove and replace generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units and conduit systems.

  • Work involves a variety of duties: Calibrates timers, thermostats and adjust contact points. Cleans and washes parts, using wire brush, buffer, and solvent to remove carbon, grease and dust.

  • Replaces worn or defective parts, such as switches, pumps, bearings, transmissions, belts, gears, blowers, and defective wiring.

  • Replacing electrical receptacles, wires switches, fixtures, and motors.

  • Perform general maintenance on equipment and machinery.

Perform other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • At least 4 years’ experience as an electrician acquired through training and/or experience under a formal apprenticeship or equivalent.

  • Must be able to listen with comprehension to assist customers with problems

  • Ability to use good judgment and common sense when performing job functions, ability to follow written and verbal instructions, ability to be punctual, patience to work under sometimes stressful conditions.

  • Proficient use of personal computer, printer, camera, calculator, copy machine and other general office equipment.

  • Will use a variety of construction tools, electrician and fire alarm tech hand tools, and measuring and testing instruments.

  • Must have a valid state issued driver’s license. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Work requires continuous walking, reaching overhead, kneeling, gripping, wrist torquing, bending, nimble use of fingers, climbing stairs, climbing ladders, standing and sitting. Work will require lifting up to 75 lbs. Must have the ability to follow oral and written instructions and procedures. Must comply with published Company work rules.
