SAIC System Engineer in CRANE, Indiana

Description

SAIC is seeking Systems Engineers with varying experience levels to support NSWC Crane to accelerate Hypersonic Science and Technology Advancement through affordable Flight Testing. A candidate will collaborate with Service and Agency Program Offices and S&T Research organizations to capture Flight Test needs for maturing Technologies and Hypersonic Weapons. Candidates will define compatible experiment packages and match them with appropriate and cost effective launch systems as inputs to detailed flight test planning and budgeting activities. Candidates will direct and manage detailed flight test design in coordination with launch providers, experiment providers, observer programs and modeling and simulation teams, execute flight test campaigns and coordinate data distribution to experiment providers and stakeholders.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

In this role, the candidate will work collaboratively with customer leaders, various working groups, systems engineering team members, mission stakeholders, national labs, and industry to identify, analyze, evaluate, coordinate, and support road-mapping, test and transition activities for critical candidate technologies. The successful candidate will be a proactive, forward leaning self-starter with exceptional judgment to interface with stakeholders at all levels as well as with industry partners.

Job duties include:

  • Maintain cognizance of technical developments within the program

  • Provide technical depth to Technical Interchange Meetings and Quarterly Program Reviews and make recommendations on future courses of action

  • Support technical studies and systems engineering activities

  • Write technical white papers and prepare presentations

  • Review and analyze detailed test plans and reports; assist with development of systems engineering and test documentation

  • Support technology maturation activities for funded projects

  • Support analysis of requirements, and test and integration planning for new technologies/ capabilities through technology insertion.

  • Help guide program providers with design concepts/recommendations for changes to facilitate integration.

  • Support development of transition processes, plans, and agreements; conduct TRL assessments and assist with TRAs.

  • Support development of mechanisms for monitoring project progress, and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and program stakeholders

  • Participate in the analysis, collaboration, coordination and de-confliction of detailed schedules and risk for the program

  • Maintain insight into the program technical support functions of partner organizations

  • Prepare Risk and Technical Review Board materials

  • Participate in Risk and Technical Advisory Board meetings

  • Brief plans and progress at various high level meetings and technical exchanges.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Nuclear), Physics, or Chemistry and 5+ years of Systems Engineering experience

  • Ability to obtain a clearance

  • US Citizen required

  • Demonstrated 5+ years of experience in a DoD systems engineering role (missile defense, space, or hypersonic program experience preferred)

  • Ability to interpret interface drawings/models

  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical and risk analysis to operational systems

  • Ability to monitor the progress of multiple concurrent and highly visible requirements with the judgment to know when to initiate needed corrective actions

  • Ability to effectively communicate complex topics and information with technical and non-technical audiences

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and judgment to know how to navigate and resolve challenging situations

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with weapons system development and test

  • Prior support for DoD Technology Readiness Level (TRL) assessments and Technology Readiness Agreements (TRAs)

  • Experience with DOORs and Digital Engineering tools (i.e., Rhapsody, Cameo Magic Draw)
