MDW Associates STEM Specialist in Crane, Indiana

MDW is seeking candidates for a future opportunity to provideSTEM supportto our US Navy client. The specialist must be capable of applying STEM process knowledge and judgment to support the NSWC-Crane STEM mission.Note that this position requires candidates be located within reasonable proximity to Crane, Indiana in order to support the NSWC customer with hybrid work schedules, on-site meetings and other in-person requirements.

The STEM Specialist shall support tasks such as:Coordinating and scheduling of on-site and off-site classes with the NSWC Crane STEM Coordinator; Provide research, analysis, planning and program/project support; Coordinate and attend meetings and conferences; Curriculum and teacher professional development; Executing and teaching a full-day curriculum for elementary, middle and high school students; Facilitating overviews of various Crane technologies; Providing tours; Teach inquiry-based lessons for elementary students; Support teacher development and training education workshops; Support out of school and afterschool STEM programs sponsored by NSWC Crane (programs include Sea Perch, FIRST, VEX, and the afterschool program Crane Tech); Management of materials associated with the lending science lending library; Collecting and assessing metrics; Communicate with NSWC Crane's STEM Coordinator and other Crane personnel to obtain information about Crane technologies necessary to execute/teach the curriculum; Additional administrative functions and duties as required.

Required Experience:

  • Prior experience supporting and coordinating STEM-related programs and functions
  • Excellent/effective Communication Skills (Written and Verbal)
  • Advanced experience using MS Office suite of products (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.,)
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team is a must
  • Ability to multi-task; effectively manage time, and work under firm and quick turn-around deadlines
  • Prior experience developing educational curriculum is highly desirable

Education Requirement/Required Years of Experience:

  • BA/BS degree from an accredited institution required
  • Prior related NSWC Crane support experience preferred

Clearance Requirement(s):

  • Candidates for this position must be eligible to obtain a US DoD Secret Clearance (requires U.S. citizenship)
