Job Information

First Division Consulting Mathematician III (NSWC) in Crane, Indiana

Contingent upon contract award.

NSWC Crane plays a pivotal role as the Acquisition Engineering Agent (AEA), In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA), and Fleet Support Team (FST) across a wide array of defense sectors. Their responsibilities encompass acquisition, procurement, contract administration, safety, in-service logistics, supply support, configuration management, and program management, alongside engineering disciplines ranging from design to production and repairs. NSWC offers vital support to airborne, maritime, and ground-based multi-sensor systems.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Use mathematical theory, computational techniques, algorithms, and the latest computer technology to solve economic, scientific, engineering, physics, and business problems.

  • Develop new principles and recognize previously unknown relationships between existing principles of mathematics.

  • Use theories and techniques, such as mathematical modeling and computational methods, to formulate and solve practical problems in business, government, and engineering.

  • Start with a practical problem, envision the separate elements of the process under consideration, and then reduce the elements to mathematical variables.

  • Use computers to analyze relationships among the variables and solve complex problems by developing models with alternative solutions.

  • Analyze and decipher encryption systems designed to transmit military, political, financial, or law enforcement-related information in code.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science/Arts (BS/BA) in a related field and 15 years of experience in demand forecasting, risk management, and developing statistical models.

  • Expertise with the AMSAA Reliability Growth Assessment Process or similar reliability models.

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent professional certification in statistics is desired.

  • Applicants with at least 10 years of experience are also welcome to apply.

  • Secret clearance Required. TS eligible.

  • Prior experience working with Electro-Optic Infrared (EO/IR) projects required.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.

  • Light to moderate lifting may be required.

  • Regular, predictable attendance is required; including quarter-driven hours as business demands dictate.
