SAIC Embedded Software Engineer in CRANE, Indiana

Description

SAIC is seeking highly motivated Embedded Software Engineer to support operations of a multifaceted organization at NSWC Crane that provides unique design solutions and technical excellence in the areas of Kinetic effects, Unmanned systems, and Rapid system integration.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The incumbent will have the opportunity to collaborate with other professionals, to solve technical problems, and engineer sound solutions in a fast-paced / safety critical environment. Will have the opportunity to serve in a capacity responsible for contributing to various projects, including all aspects of the product life cycle from concept to fielding. All while having the opportunity to help build and maintain strategic relationships with customers and industry partners.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Develop and program embedded systems using C, C++, and C# coding.

  • Developing embedded software for use on real-time and near real-time operating systems and processors including networking and radio systems.

  • Tasks may include the following: definition of firmware and software architectures, conduct initial development phases including industry research, debugging, testing, maturing codebases to a production-ready level.

  • Additional tasks may include assign safety-criticality indices to code segments, and insuring standards and requirements are met.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE:

  • Bachelors degree and two (2) years experience; Masters degree and zero (0) years of experience.

  • A Bachelor of Science in the areas of computer engineering or computer science is required for this position.

  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively to a variety of audiences in oral or written formats.

  • Significant and recent technical product development experience with a background in design and development of embedded systems, and developing / maturing code to support prototyping, testing, and production efforts.

  • Knowledge and Ability in reading schematics of complex electronic assemblies.

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft office (Outlook, Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Interim secret clearance required to start with the ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance

  • US Citizenship required

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Project management experience

  • Knowledge and ability in developing User Experience and/or Graphical User Interface (GUI)

  • Experience in rapidly developed and safety critical systems.

  • Unmanned systems experience

  • Communications systems experience, i.e., radio (RF) and satellite links

  • Autonomous Systems experience in perception and path planning

  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance

  • DoD engineering experience
