Job Description

Job Summary & Essential Functions: The following describes in general terms the purpose and scope of the position.

Operation of Brown & Sharpe CMM machine to ensure sheet metal product conforms to customer specification standards. Ensures machine is properly calibrated so product does not fall short of quality standards required by the customer.

· Preferred candidates will have experience with DCDMIS CAD CMM software programming.

· Must have a very good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.

· Be competent in reading and understanding Aerospace Engineering Drawings and Specifications.

· Operating the CMM to inspect manufactured sheet metal products.

· Provide technical support to operations pertinent to compliance with engineering requirements.

· Participate with Quality Control personnel on issues relative to the determination of product/process.

· Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.

· Must be willing and able to work overtime as necessary.

· Acceptable attendance is an essential function of the position.

· Performs other duties as assigned or required by the position.

Required Skills & Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • HS DIPLOMA OR GED IS REQUIRED.

  • Must possess PC-Microsoft Word and Excel skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

  • Ability to multitask, in urgent situations.

  • Must have completed the Level I Advanced PC-DMIS training by Hexagon Metrology.

  • Willing and able to work overtime including weekends.

  • Must have above-average understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance.

  • Be competent in reading and understanding Engineering Drawings.

  • Understanding of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.

  • Requires the ability to communicate professionally and courteously across all organizational levels.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.

  • The employee frequently is required to sit, and occasionally required to walk or stand.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively.

  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

    · The noise level in the CMM room is usually quiet to mild.

    Skills & Qualifications

    Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the outlined experience level, education, training, minimum years of experience, product or industry knowledge plus any certifications in order to be considered.

    · High school diploma or equivalent required.

    · Minimum of six months experience as a CMM operator using PC-DMIS software in a manufacturing facility required or equivalent combination of experience and education.

    · Associates degree in a technical field or 2-3 years’ direct related experience preferred.

    · Knowledge and experience in blueprint reading and interpretation, welding and fabrication standards required.

    · Experience with Model Based Definition and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing strongly desired.

    · Aerospace experience preferred.
