ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for individuals who have at least one year of experience driving 100-ton Haul Trucks (or larger) to support our mining team on our project site near *Leadville, Colorado. *

When you join our team as a haul truck operator, you will be expected to primarily run Liebherr and Caterpillar mining haul/dump trucks alongside other heavy mining equipment in an open-cut mining environment in a safe, productive, and cost-effective manner. With the opportunity to advance into additional operations support equipment.

This role will be 7 - 12hour rotating shifts then 7 days off.  Thiess will cover the cost of travel (fly-in, fly -out), hotel accommodations and daily per diem. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under direct supervision, the Haul Truck Operator performs earthmoving and support duties in a Mining environment
  • Job tasks to include Pre/post trip inspections, fueling of truck and related duties
  • Job tasks, correctly performed, impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability, or operations
  • Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing PPE 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Preferred experience with both Electric and Mechanical Haul Trucks
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results within a team environment with minimal supervision at times
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • High level of attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills
  • The ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability and willingness to work different schedule on site based on project needs  

     

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of One year experience operating a 100-ton Haul Truck or larger
  • Work with other project employees to meet the project's safety, environment, and production targets
  • Authorization to work lawfully in the USA without sponsorship from Thiess is required
  • Must be fluent in the English language

     

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to lift 50 pounds  
  • Able to live and work at high altitudes (12,000 ft. elevation) for a week at a time  
  • Able to work in extreme winter conditions with temperatures regularly below zero degrees Fahrenheit  
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time, walk long distances, and climb ladders  
  • Able to work for extended 12-hour shifts  
  • No auditory or visual impairments restricting the ability to see distances while d riving and clearly discern auditory and visual alerts/alarms (not including color blindness)  
  • Quick response/reaction times  
  • Arm-hand steadiness and manual dexterity 

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
