The Opportunity:

The Area Maintenance Supervisor (AMS) is a vital part of the Mahrt Papermill Maintenance Department in Cottonton, AL. The mill produces high quality packaging coated paperboard and is highly profitable. Year after year Mahrt continues to deliver unprecedented safety, reliability, production, and financial results.

The AMS is responsible for maintenance of a production area and supervises a team of multi-craft maintenance mechanics, E&I’s and oilers. The AMS is part of a natural core team that includes the Planner, Reliability Engineer, and area Operations counterpart. The team plans and executes all maintenance work in the area of assignment. The AMS also works with other area teams to ensure a safe and productive work environment. This position reports to the Assistant Maintenance Superintendent.

In this role, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Employee Safety

  • Equipment Reliability

  • Manage Area Maintenance Cost Ensure MWV Policies are followed by employees under your direction

  • Identify Training Needs

  • Ensure all regulatory requirements are met or exceeded

  • Enhance the use of teamwork within and outside of work group

What you need to succeed:

  • High School Diploma

  • Must have mechanical maintenance background

  • Experience with paper machines preferred

  • Completion of apprenticeship program, trade school, or 4 year engineering degree

  • Ability to supervise in organized labor environment

  • 8+ years experience in a Heavy Industrial or Construction environment

  • Essential computer skills
