Experian is looking for a team-oriented attorney with 4 +years of relevant experience for an in-house legal position. The position will provide legal support for Experian’s North American consumer services business, headquartered in Costa Mesa, California.

The successful Corporate Counsel candidate will provide support for all legal matters of the day-to-day operations of Experian’s North American consumer services business. The Consumer Services business provides credit education and identity protection solutions to consumers and helps businesses manage the impact of a data breach. This group is divided into two divisions; the Direct-to-Consumer team provides these solutions directly to consumers while the Partner Solutions team empowers companies to provides these solutions to their consumers.

The Corporate Counsel practice will focus on a wide array of transactional and regulatory matters, including drafting and negotiating strategic alliance and partnership agreements, participating in risk assessment and regulatory reviews for new products and marketing initiatives, and maintaining a strong working knowledge of consumer protection and data privacy laws. Specific experience in a transactional and/or regulatory practice relevant to financial services and/or digital marketing and e-commerce is a plus, but more importantly the successful candidate will demonstrate through prior experience an ability to learn and adapt to the requirements of the role. This position will report to the Vice President & Head of Legal – Consumer Services in the Legal Department.

  • 4 to 10 years of relevant legal experience in a large law firm and/or in-house setting desired.

  • Excellent academic credentials

  • The highest standards for thoroughness and diligence in handling legal matters

  • Experience in handling matters for financial services or other highly regulated industries

  • Ability to work with little supervision, check ego at the door, and be an active member of a congenial legal team and work well with non-legal professionals

  • Ability to understand complex business issues, develop practical, problem-solving strategies and effectively communicate in a positive manner

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment

  • License to practice law
