First Step Family Violence Intervention Services, Inc. Shelter Worker in Coshocton, Ohio

*Job Description: * The Shelter Worker shall monitor the Shelter Facility, including: attending to the individual needs of the residents/clients; maintenance needs, to complete assigned responsibilities, follow security procedures and the written policies and procedures of the Shelter Facility. The Shelter Worker is responsible for the answering of the Helpline.

*Job Duties: *

  1. To provide services to clients /residents in an environment that ensures safety, respect, Non-judgmental attitudes, non-abusive behaviors and confidentiality.
  2. Complete all paperwork required, including entry into the Logbook; Medication Log, Intake of new resident/client coming into the shelter Facility, Monitor and carry out shelter security Procedures or any additional paperwork assigned by the Shelter Director and/or Executive Director.
  3. Provide emotional support to Residents/clients by using listening skills.
  4. Assist Shelter Residents/Clients with conflict resolution.
  5. Provide personal and food supplies to residents as needed.
  6. Assist residents/clients in preparing meals, as needed.
  7. Monitor and carry out Shelter Facility security procedure.
  8. Perform housekeeping tasks as assigned by the Shelter Director.
  9. Answer the Helpline, per Helpline procedure manual.
  10. Knowledge of Shelter Facility Policy and procedure Manual.
  11. Complying with Shelter Facility Policies and Procedures.
  12. Attend scheduled staff meetings and training workshops.
  13. Contact Shelter Director regarding any concerns regarding the Shelter and/or Residents/Clients.
  14. Perform other duties assigned by Shelter Director and/or Executive Director

     

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  2. Good Oral and Communication Skills
  3. Good Listening Skills
  4. Ability to work in a non-judgmental manner
  5. Work as a Team Member
  6. Understanding of Domestic Violence
  7. Knowledgeable of Community Resources
