Jacobs Mid-Level Geotechnical Engineer in Corvallis, Oregon

As Mid-Level Geotechnical Engineer based in Corvallis, OR, Portland, OR, Boise, ID or Bellevue, WA you will lead geotechnical tasks and lead the delivery on a wide variety of projects, with a focus on water and transportation market projects such as dams, levees, treatment plants, bridges, and related infrastructure projects. These projects will include both conventional design-bid-build projects, as well as design-build projects. Your responsibilities will include mentoring less experienced staff with the potential to be a staff manager, leading projects in the development and implementation of geotechnical data collection programs, geotechnical analyses, preparation of reports, development of contract documents, and providing support during project construction. Each day, you will have the opportunity to follow projects from concept development through the construction phase with our engineers. This position requires a geotechnical engineer who wants to function as part of a large interdisciplinary design team, who can interact with our existing and perspective clients, who can provide support to business development efforts, and who will assist the regional business group and geotechnical leadership in advancing the technical capabilities of the regional office and global geotechnical group. Technical skills that are required to serve in the this role include, but are not necessarily limited to, knowledge and experience in the following areas:

  • Exploration methods, geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring, and laboratory testing for soil and rock;

  • Experience with design, construction, and inspection of water and transportation market projects;

  • Design of typical geotechnical structures, such as shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, embankment and cut slopes, and ground improvement;

  • An understanding of earthquake hazard evaluations, including liquefaction assessments, site-specific ground response analyses, and development of design spectra;

  • Preparation of technical reports

  • Familiarity with computer programs for geotechnical analyses, such as SETTLE3D, LPILE, SLIDE or SLOPE/W, MATHCAD, FB-Multipier, PLAXIS, and FLAC; and

  • Preparation of design drawings and specifications

'- B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering and M.S/Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering

  • 5- 15 years of geotechnical consulting experience with a focus on water and transportation market or related infrastructure projects

  • PE license
