The Licensed Practical Nurse provides assistance to the physician with patient care in accordance with established methods and techniques while conforming with recognized standards and as defined by the Oregon State Board of Nursing.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates and maintains a culture within The Corvallis Clinic consistent with the content outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards Caregiver Handbook. To this end, employee will be expected to read, have familiarity, and embrace the principles contained within

  • Directs patient flow and prepares patients for exams

  • Facilitates collection of all necessary information required for patient visits. Accurately records pertinent information in the chart and insures necessary patient care paperwork is processed and forwarded in a timely manner

  • Accepts and returns patient phone calls, and insures that callbacks and prescription refills are completed in a timely fashion consistent with physician guidelines and scope of practice as well as clinic guidelines. Documents pertinent information accurately

  • Assists providers with procedures as directed and maintain asepsis. Performs invasive procedures for which he/she has the training and skills

  • Proactively monitors physician schedules for accuracy

  • Improves the quality of care through continuing education and self-evaluation of the effectiveness of care. This includes attendance/participation in most inservices/department meetings and remaining current on clinic/department policies and procedures

  • Actively participates in cleaning of shared work areas and keep exam rooms clean, neat and stocked

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing

  • Current unencumbered licensure in Oregon

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to complete BLS certification within 90 days of hire

  • Experience in acute care and/or an office/clinic setting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of basic clinical skills to provide patient care

  • Proven ability to prioritize

  • Proven ability to work compatibly with physicians, patients and other staff

  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and cope with the hazards of a busy, fast-paced work environment
