The Metallurgy Intern will assist with technical aspects for metallurgy, material selection, fabrication & welding, and corrosion engineering to enable the most reliable performance that will meet the company’s economic, environmental and safety objectives.

Job Duties:

  • Assists with metallurgical, materials, fabrication & welding, and corrosion engineering support for refinery operating units.
  • Assists with area of operations support include metallurgy, process corrosion monitoring, process corrosion control and mitigation, opportunity crude evaluation, primary contact for refinery corrosion control vendors, project and maintenance materials selection, etc.
  • Assists with capital projects in areas of materials selection and equipment degradation control methodologies (e.g., corrosion probes, wash water, sample points, equipment degradation documents).
  • Assists with turnaround organizations in piping/equipment degradation identification and use of risk-based methodology.
  • Assists with best practices for common problem areas, maintenance of refinery materials and corrosion control documents
  • Assists with selection of welding processes and procedures for new fabrication and existing equipment repairs and modifications

This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications:
* Pursing a Bachelor’s of Science degree or higher degree in Metallurgical Engineering (preferred), Materials Engineering (preferred), or Materials Science (will consider, dependent on coursework taken) from an accredited university. * Overall GPA of 3.2 (or higher) on a 4.0 scale preferred. * Obtained at least 60 credit hours by the start of summer internship required. * Graduation date of August 2025 through May 2027 required. * Ability to work 40 hours per week in person required.
