Stryker's Joint Replacement Division is seeking to hire a Senior Packaging Engineer to support new product development and sustainment projects for our JR division.

What You Will Do

The sterile packaging product development team at the Joint Replacement Division is a highly visible function which is critical to the overall success of the implant product launch. Requirements for sterile packaging are evolving and becoming more stringent and as a result, the role of a packaging engineer provides exciting challenges for problem solvers and those who thrive in a fast paced, matrix environment. As such, the packaging engineer collaborates closely with their technical SME, implant product development, operations, vendors, commercial, and program management to deliver on-time, robust, safe and effective packaging solutions. The sterile package needs to meet the requirements of industry and regulatory standards and just as important, you, as the designer, needs to anticipate and meet the needs of the end users in the surgical theatre. As a Senior Packaging Engineer, you will:

  • Work closely with global packaging vendors and Stryker's packaging site engineers to develop packages for orthopaedic implants and instruments.

  • Ensure designs can be utilized by the packaging equipment across Stryker's global packaging sites.

  • Manage design control creation through the new product development process (NPDP), utilize internal procedures for package development, conduct feasibility testing, assess results, iterate as necessary and conduct design verification and validation testing.

  • Author test protocols and reports, build the design history file, and operate within Stryker's quality system to produce supporting design control documents, engineering change notices and drawings.

  • Support the regulatory submission with deliverables as needed.

  • Support projects from inception to launch, and through a finite assess phase after launch.

What You Need

  • Bachelor's Degree in Packaging, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.

  • 2+ years of work experience

Preferred

  • Medical device industry experience

  • Packaging design development experience

  • Functional knowledge of design controls and industry standards in packaging design (ISO 11607, ASTM, ISTA)
