The School of Nursing and Health Studies (SONHS) at the University of Miami invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Clinical position. The SONHS seeks an energetic, and dynamic academic leader that may teach in our undergraduate program. Candidates with areas of nursing specialty in Acute Care, Psych/Mental Health, Pediatrics, Women's Health, and Adult Health are encouraged to apply.

The U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Nursing Schools” ranks the SONHS’ Master’s Programs 25th and the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program 39th. Among schools of nursing, the SONHS’ scientific portfolio is ranked first in Florida and 16th in the nation for NIH funding. Cutting-edge research conducted by some of the world’s top healthcare scientists focuses on topics such as health disparities, cultural competence in healthcare, HIV and other STIs, substance abuse, family and intimate partner violence, mental health, patient outcomes, and patient safety, with a focus on nursing education and nursing workforce issues. The SONHS’ 5-story, 41,000 square-foot, cutting-edge Simulation Hospital, replicates the true flow of activities in a clinical practice. It is a global destination for simulation-based education and research. The School of Nursing and Health Studies (SONHS) at the University of Miami invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Clinical. The SONHS seeks an energetic, and dynamic academic leader that may teach across the undergraduate program. Candidates with all areas of nursing specialty are encouraged to apply including pediatrics, adult and women's health. The Assistant Professor of Clinical will report directly to the associate dean for undergraduate nursingprograms and responsibilities will include:

Teaching:

  • Teaches in the undergraduate and graduate programs

  • Contributes to guidance of scholarly projects of students within courses; or contributes to curriculum and course development activities (e.g., course coordination, course evaluation materials, development of simulations)

  • Academic advising of students

Scholarly:

  • Scholarship and research activities

  • Leads research funding initiatives serving as project director/coordinator or collaborator for pilot internal and or external grants.

  • Demonstrates impact on practice in a clinical, educational or other professional setting.

  • Presents scholarly papers at peer-reviewed conferences at the national/international level

  • Expected to publish an average of two articles each year, as first or co-author in refereed and indexed journals or chapters in books.

Service:

  • Serves as mentor for new faculty.

  • Participates in community and academic service

  • Participates in University and School committees

Candidates must hold a Doctorate in Nursing and at least 2-4years of progressive experience in addition to an outstanding portfolioin advanced nursing education. Additionally, applicants musthold a valid U.S. RN license .
