Lundbeck Neuroscience is looking for a technician or senior technician highly motivated by the outlook of discovering new treatments for diseases in the central nervous system.

The Neuroscience research organization represent Biological Research at Lundbeck. The main responsibility is to identify and validate drug targets, develop and support drug discovery with cell and animal-based readouts needed for compounds or biologics to be developed into drug candidates and to develop strong translational packages.

The position will be based in the Department of Signal Transduction, Valby/Copenhagen. The overall focus in the department is to drive and support our drug discovery projects, including target validation, drug candidate profiling and molecular and cellular understanding of brain disease pathologies. As part of this focus, we make extensive use of histology and related methods.

Your job and key responsibilities

In the Histology team you will work closely together with staff scientists and other technicians. Both within and across research departments and our animal facility. Your key tasks and responsibilities includes; 1) proper preparation and handling of brain tissue, 2) brain tissue sectioning (cryo-sectioning and free floating sections), 3) fluorescence-based labeling and mounting of brain tissue sections, 4) basic wide-field microscopy and 5) assisting in analysis and reporting of results. Being part of the Histology team, you will contribute in the progression of research projects towards the clinical development. Our work provides essential knowledge to our projects, such as insight in target localization, confirmation of target engagement and mechanistic understanding of target biology.

Qualifications

Our preferred candidate has the following professional and personal qualifications:

  • Educated and trained as lab technician

  • Strong experience in tissue handling and sectioning (preferably with basic understanding of brain anatomy)

  • Experience in antibody-based labeling of tissue sections, i.e. immunofluorescence staining and/or immunohistochemistry (IHC)

  • Experience with “in situ hybridization” (ISH) would be considered an advantage

  • Strong ability to plan and coordinate tasks

  • Strong sense of responsibility

  • Strong collaborative and team-playing skills

  • An overall positive mind-set and interest in Lundbeck Neuroscience
