Recently named a Forbes America's Best-In-State Employer 2022! What you'll do The Athletic Trainer is an integral member of the Bassett Sports Medicine program. The primary role of this position involves travel to area high schools to evaluate injured athletes. The Athletic Trainer manages the Sports Medicine Hotline that serves as a link to the high schools and community members needing sports medicine services. Provide high quality injury evaluation to school athletes, community athletes. Evaluate and treat athletic injuries at the high school level appropriately as measured by provider input. Develop and implement rehabilitation programs for the injured athletes as measured by provider input. Work with Physical Therapists, Physician’s Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and Orthopedic Surgeons to provide comprehensive athletic injury care as measured by provider input. Triage phone calls from the sports medicine hotline number. Maintain accurate records. Maintain accurate injury evaluation records providing bi-annual reports, as measured by supervisory observation. Utilize injury date to recommend injury prevention measures as observed by supervisor. Provide assistance with Sports Medicine coverage for special events. Coordinate with Providers to help with community events requiring sports medicine presence. Develop and implement plan for involvement of community events as observed by supervisor observation. Provide education to school coaches, athletes, and community athletes. Hold coaches clinics to aid high school coaches in injury prevention techniques, proper injury treatment, and injury information as least twice per year. Submit records of clinics. Develop community education events at least twice per year. Submit records of education events. Speak to community groups about sport medicine or related topics at least once per year. Submit records of education events. Performs other duties as requested and observed by supervisor or manager. What we need from you Education: Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, required. Master's degree, preferred. Experience: 2 years of experience in Athletic Training, preferred. License/ Certification: New York State Athletic Trainer License, required. National Athletic Trainer Certification, required. Valid Driver’s License, required. Skills: Coaching Communication Facilitate Interacting with People Team Building Training Physical Requirements: Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Occasional: crouching, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping. Frequent: balancing, typing/ clerical/ dexterity, grasping, repetitive motion, seeing/ monitor/ computer use, standing. Constant: hearing, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), walking. Hazards: Occasional: bodily fluids/ bloodborne exposure.
