Description If you have a knack for leading with high standards, positively motivating others, and making critical decisions and have experience taking charge of an accounting and clerical department, contact Robert Half about becoming a Controller with a reputable company. This role's duties will require planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. In this role, it will be critical for you to lead with integrity and reliability and have the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services. The ideal candidate for this position is a creative team player with a talent for challenging the status quo, coming up with unique ideas, negotiating and influencing. How you will make an impact

  • Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports

  • Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Inspect deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations

  • Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Comfortable in taking on tasks beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash

  • Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

  • Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time

  • Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation Requirements - Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued

  • Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

  • Extraordinary analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

  • Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

  • CPA/MBA preferred

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Excellent verbal, written, and social communication skills

  • Strong familiarity with MS Dynamics 365 Business Central

  • Financial Statement experience desired

  • Fixed Asset Accounting experience

  • General ledger experience

  • Foundational knowledge in grant accounting

  • Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

  • Prior work done in public accounting is desired

  • Be detailed, flexible, and organized

  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
