KPS Global (KPSG) is the North American industry leader in the manufacture, production, and installation of Walk-in Coolers and Freezers. KPSG’s end-product serves many channels within the retail food market as well as industrial applications. KPSG is based in Fort Worth, Texas with Engineering activities centralized in the Fort Worth facility (along with Finance, Human Resources, Customer Operations, Sales, and Installation Services), supporting product manufacturing in three locations: Fort Worth; Piney Flats, TN; and Goodyear, AZ.

KPS Global is looking for a Quality Manager, to join the Corporate Quality Group.

The Quality Manager is responsible for managing product quality and subsequent production processes in support of ongoing manufacturing. The primary objective is to validate defined procedures are being followed (through daily involvement with the Operations team at all levels), provide Operations with details when shortcomings are noted (qualitative and quantitative), provide direction to the Quality team with the overall objective to reduce quality costs both internal and external. This role supports the internal value stream from order definition through shipment and field installation. Duties include the oversight for the Ft. Worth facility primarily but will involve routine communication with other KPSG facilities (as well as acquired Custom Cooler facilities). Key success factors include improvements in first pass yield, reduction in rework costs (internal and external), ability to define and transfer key product quality attributes into operator training documents / tools, all in support of driving solid sustainable root cause and corrective actions and realizing a uniform quality system across all KPSG facilities.

Required Skills

  • Maintain an effective material review, disposition, and non-conformance system across all facilities, feeding root cause and corrective action efforts driving accountability and ownership.

  • Enforce the quality assurance program in conformance with customer requirements, engineering specifications, and defined work instructions for overall quality program advancement.

  • Provide guidance to the Quality team, working with staff from Operations, Supply Chain and Engineering (all functions) to improve consistency of outbound product and customer satisfaction by measuring, monitoring, and improving internal processes.

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Quality team and coordinate communication and training on quality requirements routinely. Work hand in hand with Operations to assure Management, Supervision, Leads, and individual operators understand key quality factors (accomplished through a host of methods).

  • Utilize “best in class” techniques such as 8D and Six Sigma tools to complete effective and sustainable problem resolutions and drive outcomes into existing work instructions and training materials.

  • Work with Supply Chain to improve upon and “bring to life” a Supplier Scorecard system on key suppliers – targeting improved communications, defect resolution, and non-quality metrics such as on-time performance.

  • Overseeing an effective internal audit and yield program of the internal quality processes to ensure compliance with procedures and ISO requirements and provide proactive issue tracking, trending, and improvement.

  • Support new product development initiatives, participants in routine R&D and NPD meetings, develop appropriate quality oversight plans in support of.

  • Represent the company in various customer visits (internal or at customers premises) to support customer issues with solid issue understanding, process shortcomings, and corrective action input.

  • Own the Quality System, transform and develop the current system through communication and agreement with appropriate stakeholders across all KPSG’s operating facilities.

  • Operate and support continuous improvement initiatives, owned by the Quality team or assigned functions.

Required Experience

+ + Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar field required, prefer with specialization in Quality Systems and Statistics.

  • Must have 5+ years of effective and proven experience in a management role, preferred within the quality profession and continuous improvement. (Manufacturing / Mechanical / Foam industry preferred).

  • A proven leader that effectively works through influence. Strong data driven and decision maker individual – change agent.

  • Must have the ability to communicate and engage effectively (verbal/written/presentations) at all levels of the organization. Experience presenting at executive level.

  • Strong proven experience as a quality assurance resource for data analysis, problem identification, resolution, and continuous improvement.

  • Strong knowledge and experience for problem solving techniques such 5 why’s, Fishbone, Process mapping, etc. in order to identify root cause and define CAPA.

  • Working knowledge of statistical software is especially desirable or equivalent, ERP, Shop floor knowledge helpful.

  • Preferably, the candidate should have experience in writing or editing a quality management systems process.

  • Experience in design and development of new product introduction.

  • Certified Quality Auditor / Engineer preferred.

  • Six Sigma (DMAIC) - Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Kanban experience preferred.

  • Working knowledge of PPAP APQP, preferred

  • Must have excellent computer skills (PowerPoint, Excel and statistical software tools).
