Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

Lead production associates to properly operate equipment from a safety, quality, and efficient perspective, while maintaining the cleanliness of all equipment.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Adheres to safety, food safety, quality and legal compliance.

  • Perform all work in accordance with environmental, health and safety standards, rules, regulations and practices of the facility.

  • Must be able to pass training/certifications as required for qualification.

  • Must perform lockout tagout as required for qualification.

  • Ensure daily department start-up and shut-down of equipment and processes.

  • Inspects and ensures all machinery is operational and clean.

  • Must ensure proper machine operations and standards by working with operators and maintenance in troubleshooting.

  • Must ensure proper communication with the maintenance team and provide operational support for maintenance team.

  • Must have an understanding of the PRISM system to ensure proper pallet tracking and production inventory.

  • Must work with team members to maintain standard changeovers while maintaining standard line efficiencies.

  • Must be able to communicate and plan ahead by coordinating production schedule in conjunction with the Supervisor to increase production outputs.

  • Must be able to indentify proper product flow from hold tanks thru flow panels to production machines.

  • Provides relief break to associates as needed.

  • Assists in compounding responsibilities for new product development.

  • Assist in training new associates.

  • Collection, review, and submittal of production paperwork.

  • Must be able to disassemble production equipment: clean, rinse and sanitize all product contact machinery utilizing proper cleaning utensils, chemicals, and COP (Clean Out of Place) process.

  • Must be able to reassemble production equipment: clean, rinse, and sanitize all product contact machinery utilizing proper cleaning utensils, chemicals, and CIP (Clean In Place) process.

  • Document completed work as required by the supervisor.

  • Compliance with all other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead liquid products operations.

PHYSICAL AND VISUAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Maintain flow of product through machine.

  • Remove unusable product from machine, conveyors, boxes or floor.

  • Safely hose down machines or conveyors.

  • Change film rolls.

  • Lift cases of product.

  • Ability to visually differentiate items of color, up close and in the distance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment and/or clothing.

  • Stand/walk 7 or more hours per day.

  • Constantly reach, bend, twist/turn, grip/grasp, and talk/hear.

  • Constantly use eye/hand coordination.

  • Constantly lift up to 5 lbs from floor to overhead and carry 75 feet.

  • Constantly lift up to 25 lbs from floor to shoulder height and carry 20 feet.

  • Constantly lift up to 50 lbs from floor to shoulder height.

  • Frequently kneel, crawl, squat, and climb (stairs including 12-16 steps).

  • Frequently use handling/fingering and taste/smell.

  • Frequently lift up to 100 lbs from floor to waist height and carry 20 feet.

  • Occasionally carry up to 50 lbs up steps.

  • Push film cart requiring 12 lbs of force 50 feet.

  • Pull open cup denester requiring 39 lbs of force.

  • Push combo lid, hand truck and pallets of product requiring 25 lbs of force 50 feet.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.

ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS:

  • Constantly work in damp, wet, humid and slippery environments.

  • Constantly work in high places.

  • Constantly work near moving equipment with fumes or airborne debris.

  • Constantly work in extreme heat/cold.

  • Constantly work in high noise levels requiring hearing protection.

  • Occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals.

MACHINES/TOOLS/EQUIPMENT/SOFTWARE

  • Bump cap, hair net, safety glasses, hearing protection, and uniform or smock.

  • Cut resistant gloves.

  • Nitrile gloves, plastic apron, and plastic sleeves.

  • All liquid products production equipment.

  • Food safety knife and small hand tools.

  • Manual and electric pallet jack.

  • Lockout locks and tags.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Knowledge of departmental operational positions and procedures.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

  • Ability to write simple correspondence.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one small group situations to customers, clients, and other team members of the organization.

  • Ability to use effective problem solving skills.

  • Ability to review and correct production paperwork.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to use mathematical functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in accordance with production paperwork.

  • Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
