Who will you be working with?

The Operations Director for Latin America will lead all aspects of our operations, production, materials, maintenance, quality, process engineering with global alignments and approximately 300 employees. This leader is responsible to sustain the growth trajectory in the region, in this role he/she will be critical to enhance customer relationship and influence/persuade new opportunities and business generation. He/She will coordinate all team efforts towards increasing the financial metrics (VCP, VLP, OTD) in sync with the Execution of Sales, Product/Business Growth, Proposal and Finance Teams.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Staff at the Latin America Region, the position will require skills and experience in profitably scaling production operations in a growth environment requiring development of production budgets, staffing, and hiring plans and capital expenditures. Implementing continuous improvement through Lean approaches and value stream analysis to drive greater profitability is a critical aspect of job responsibilities.

  • Develop the overall business strategy to efficiency and grow on Operations in a global environment.

  • Contribute to and lead a One-Wabtec culture centered on operational excellence that enables teams to deliver world class products and services for our customers and achieve long-term sustainable growth.

  • Team engagement to drive customer satisfaction throughout the organization while ensuring safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and profitability, in partnership with other functions in the enterprise.

  • Be the face of the organization and promote the company to customers, clients, suppliers, and other external stakeholders

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or solid experience in senior level experience in transportation / railroad industry.

  • Proven progressively responsible experience in multiple business disciplines including operations, supply chain, forecasting, customer management, budget development, life cycle asset management and infrastructure maintenance in a complex transportation related environment.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of governmental regulations related to the transportation industry.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing, leading, and developing a large diverse staff, with a proven record of effective team building.

  • Demonstrated experience interacting in a large complex corporate organization.

  • Demonstrated ability developing strategies to achieve broad business goals and to understand the impact on various stakeholders/constituents.

  • Superior written and oral communication skills with demonstrated experience in preparing and delivering presentation materials to senior staff.

  • Demonstrated negotiations and conflict resolution skills.

  • Strong ability to lead processes, make decisions, and solve problems.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Lead the portfolio through the freight car products business cycle to maintain profitability goals through the downcycle and maximize contribution margin goals through the upcycle.

  • Lead global teams in safely delivering reliable products and services to our customers on time at a competitive cost

  • Identify, recommend, and implement new investments, processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.

  • Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets

  • Attract, inspire, encourage, enable, and develop high performers, while building a culture of predictability and accountability

  • Champion diversity and build a talent pipeline aligned to our business strategy
