Summary

The Engineering Project Manager, plans, manages, and coordinates the activities of designated engineering project(s) to ensure the goals and objectives are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters while adhering to Universal’s processes, policies, and best practices.

Principal Accountabilities (Functional)

  • Provide cross functional and cross organizational leadership throughout all phases of project.

  • Ensure requirements are well defined and documented.

  • Define and document technical solutions and proposals to meet project requirements.

  • Confer with the appropriate staff to outline work, assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.

  • Provide formalized project proposals and plans consisting of work breakdown structure, project schedule and milestones, project cost, risk/issue management, and KPI metrics.

  • Direct and coordinate the activities of project personnel to ensure the project progresses on schedule, within budget, and meets the requirements goals and objectives of the project.

  • Review status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required.

  • Prepares and presents project reports for management, clients, or others.

  • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.

  • Coordinates project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies.

  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

  • Engages and manages 3rd party contractors. Defines SOW (statement of work), performs contract definition, negotiations, etc. Provides management of services during execution.

  • Analyzes issues and can step in, to solve technical issues and assist employees in solving problems.

  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

    Minimum Requirements

  • BS Degree and 4+ years of technical experience within an applicable engineering discipline. (i.e. Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Software, etc.)

  • Notable progressive growth from original discipline to at least 3+ years of experience in managing cross-functional projects and teams.

  • International experience preferred.

  • Experience in robotics and automation machinery experience is preferred.

    Physical Demands

  • Requires the ability to communicate clearly in giving presentations.

  • Must be able to communicate clearly with fellow colleagues.

  • The ability to travel to customer sites or technical conferences is required (up to 10%)
