MAINTENANCEASSISTANT#16524(Job Id 13833)Location: US:NH:CONCORD Post Date: 02/06/2019Category: LABOR and TRADE Close Date:Employment Type:Salary: 29,931.000-34,798.000 USDDescriptionState of New Hampshire Job PostingDepartment of Administrative ServicesBureau of Facilities and Assets Management129 Pleasant Street, Concord NHMAINTENANCE ASSISTANTLabor Grade 10Position #16524*See total compensation information at the bottom of announcement.The State of New Hampshire, Department of Administrative Services, Division of Plant and Property Management, Bureau of Facilities and AssetsManagement has a full time vacancy for Maintenance Assistant.SUMMARY:Performs skilled maintenance and repair work on state buildings and grounds and maintains the operating condition of machinery and equipment.RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides the general care and maintenance of the state buildings inside and outside to ensure that state facilities are maintained in a proper and safecondition.Operates lawn and snow removal equipment to maintain state-owned grounds and facilities for appearance and safety.Cuts and trims grass and hedges, plants and maintains gardens and shrubs, or cuts and clears brush to ensure state grounds are properly landscapedand maintained in a neat and orderly appearance.Operates loader, backhoe, and powered broom / snow blowers, and makes field repairs of associated equipment.Assists building trades with interior building maintenance including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and mechanical system maintenanceto ensure that building systems are in proper working order.Drives vehicles to make deliveries and pick-ups from state and suppliers, to move equipment, and to remove rubbish.Installs and moves furniture, partitions, equipment, and cabling to minimize cost.Repairs small equipment and checks vehicles to observe the need for preventive maintenance and up keep of the equipment and vehicles.Maintains roads and walks, plowing snow, concrete and asphalt repairs, road painting and drain repair / reconstruction.Complies with established hospital and departmental policies and procedures by performing accountabilities in accordance with established policiesand procedures; communicating with supervisors issues related to workplace safety (i.e., ergonomics, body mechanics, environment, equipment);reporting on the job injuries to supervisor immediately; and attending training programs, as appropriate.Recognizing that everyone we come into contact with is a customer; treat all with courtesy, respect and professionalism, striving to exceed customerservice expectations.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency credential.Experience: Two years of experience in general maintenance and repair work associated with one or more of the following areas: carpentry,electricity, painting, plumbing, masonry, sheet metal work, welding, auto repair, excavation and/or site work, landscaping, or related tradeexperience. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.License/Certification: Must possess a valid driver's license appropriate to the type of vehicles driven.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be in good physical condition with normal strength and agility.
