A technical, hands-on position which sets up and operates cold-heading machines to produce precision, quality components. The Heading Operator is responsible for accurate record keeping, loading, efficiency, and the safe execution of the process. Utilization of measurement tools for inspection, conformance to engineering drawings and the minimization of scrap are critical to this role.

  • Always ensure a safe working environment.

  • Ensure that all behaviours contribute to effective working relationships on the team.

  • Follow all policies, procedures, and work instructions in accordance with our Quality System.

  • Effectively operate heading equipment.

  • Set up heading equipment in an efficient manner using setup tools and techniques.

  • Provide dimensionally compliant 1st off samples in a reasonable time.

  • Coordinate tooling requirements with lead hand and tool room team members.

  • Load and adjust all dies, punches, and transfer hardware into heading machine.

  • Follow production priorities.

  • Ensure high product quality and minimize scrap rates.

  • Inspect parts at the prescribed sampling rate.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Provide accurate reporting as defined in the work instructions.

  • Any other reasonable duties as directed.
