Substation Project Lead/Project Engineer

Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

POWER Engineers is currently seeking a Substation Project Lead/Project Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Columbus office located in New Albany, Ohio. Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (employee will need to live within driving distance of the office).

Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships with alliance clients.

  • Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations including one-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling.

  • Ensure POWER quality procedures are followed.

  • Perform QA/QC for deliverables to clients.

  • Manage schedule, budget, and quality of assigned projects.

  • Occasional travel will be required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Ability to function as a Substation Project Lead/Project Engineer in the Columbus office of our Substation Business Unit.

  • Experience in 15kV through 138kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards.

  • Experience filling the role of project lead for several projects occurring concurrently.

  • The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.

  • Candidate must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.

Desired Education/Experience

  • Experience in 230 kV through 500kV substation design.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or a relevant technology.

  • Ten (10) or more years experience in utility substation design is a plus.

  • Experience in managing 3-5 people on a project team.
