Salary: $69,781 - $81,930

Location: 33 N. High Street, Columbus, OH 43215 This position allows for a hybrid schedule, administrative employees must be Columbus based to accommodate the on-site requirements of our hybrid work policy.

Position Summary:

COTA's Strategic Response Administrator collaborates with internal and external partners to identify vulnerabilities, vulnerable populations, and apply mitigation resources where applicable. This position works closely with the Manager, Risk Assessment to develop goals and initiatives for the Risk Department. This individual partners with various departments across the organization on security-related issues and accident investigations as needed. The Strategic Response Administrator serves as backup to the Risk Assessment Specialists, when necessary.

Performs duties in alignment with the 2019 - 2024 COTA Strategic Plan and in support of the organization's vision To Move Every Life Forward.

This Position is Responsible For:

  • Conducts COTA service area security assessments, review monthly security/risk reports, review Origami statistics, and prepare monthly reports for the Manager, Risk Assessment to provide situational awareness as required; assist Manager, Risk Assessment with review and delivery of current situational awareness-related training, review policies and procedures as directed;

  • Partners with Transit Operations and uses sound judgment to de-escalate and resolve potentially dangerous situations throughout COTA's service area;

  • Works in close proximity with regional police, safety, fire departments, and community resource agencies as needed;

  • Executes route checks, conducts onboard ride checks, engages Operators on route intelligence, and responds to Security and Accident-related events; monitors transit centers, bus shelters and Park and Ride locations for security issues within service area.

  • Respond to Customer Contacts accordingly that relate to security and community outreach within the COTA Service area.

  • Attend COTA Safety Committee meetings as needed to provide strategic solutions and identify early opportunities for providing resolutions to current situational awareness topics within a team setting.

  • Assists with related task force functions in addressing security and safety concerns on bus lines and at bus shelters that align with COTA's Strategic Plan with-in COTA's service area.

  • Maintains courteous and informative communications with the public and customers.

  • Responds to revenue and non-revenue accidents and/or incidents in a timely manner as needed; ensures clear, concise and accurate reporting, on-scene photography, and evidence collection, less any discrepancies and/or falsities.

  • Assists the Manager, Risk Assessment with community resourcing, outreach, and department goals and initiatives as needed;

    At Minimum You'll Need:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or GED, and four (4) years of security experience, preferably in transportation or working with the public; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Associate degree preferred.

  • FTA Level 1 Accident Certification upon hire;

  • Must possess an Ohio Driver License with the ability to drive a transit vehicle for work purposes;

  • Completion of all required training;
