The Ruhlin Company Regional Safety Manager in Columbus, Ohio

The Ruhlin Company is seeking to hire a Regional Safety Manager for Columbus Ohio and the adjacent areas.

Position Summary: Assist with planning, directing and implementation of the Company safety program to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment on every project within the assigned region.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Company safety policies and procedures are understood by employees and implemented consistently within assigned region of responsibility.

  • Conduct pre-job safety surveys and develop site specific safety plans for all jobs in assigned region of responsibility.

  • Conduct comprehensive on-site safety assessments of projects as part of the constant monitoring process and monitor corrective actions taken.

  • Document all safety violations or unsafe conditions/activities; ensure corrective measures are immediately implemented; follow through to ensure corrections have been implemented; Analyze and recommend corrective action for all incidents.

  • Complete incident reporting and investigation within their assigned region and will accompany/transport an injured worker in need of medical attention.

  • Develop Toolbox Safety Talks in compliance with Company safety policies; educate project employees and conduct training as needed.

  • Conduct weekly meetings with job superintendents to review job safety performance.

  • Attend job planning and owner meetings as needed to identify safety needs.

  • Help to ensure safety goals are achieved on every project and all governmental safety regulations are observed and practiced.

  • Cultivate a positive attitude toward safe work practices among employees.

  • Visit every jobsite weekly in assigned region.

  • Ensure employees have all resources necessary to work safely.

  • Assist in the preparation of all required regulatory reports.

  • Maintain safety files and records; prepare reports for management as needed.

  • Recommend and enforce disciplinary actions against safety policy violators.

  • Maintain inventory of safety supplies to ensure project safety needs are met.

  • Ensure Company policies and procedures are understood and implemented consistently.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and coworkers.

  • Communicate and reinforce the Company vision, values, and goals.

  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.

    Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health/safety or related field of study preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years construction safety experience.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word)

  • OSHA 30 and/or OSHA 500 certification preferred.

  • Understanding of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local, and Company regulations.

  • Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills.

  • Ability to train and educate others.
