The Sherwin-Williams Company Operations Manager - Distribution in Columbus, Ohio

This position is responsible for leading the manufacturing and packaging process of high-quality finished goods, cycle times, and the improvement of manufacturing efficiencies. This role is responsible for supporting attainment of the operational goals in the production area through the implementation of the company's vision and strategy. This role develops and maintains a safe work environment in compliance with all state and federal laws, maintaining plant manufacturing programs within budget, continuous improvement in the quality of our products, and directing and driving all company continuous improvement efforts in the 5 focus areas of operational excellence including safety, people, service, quality and cost. Additional Information: Travel Required: 5% Monday - Friday with early mornings and evenings, as required. Provide direct leadership to production supervisors and/or functional areas supporting manufacturing Accountable for production and shipping schedules, maintaining quality, controlling manufacturing costs, and promoting good employee and community relationships Develop and execute plant manufacturing budgets Analyze and plan for production workforce requirements Implement operational policies and procedures Ensure effective and safe use of manufacturing equipment Monitor quality and productivity to ensure service and cost objectives are met Manage employee training, development, performance management, and corrective action Continually measure and communicate progress toward Key Performance Indicators ("KPI") goals (Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost) Conduct regular communication meetings with workforce to enhance BMS (Business Management System) and Operational Excellence Guide teams in effectively utilizing the tools of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing to complete continuous improvement projects Participate in Continuous Improvement Projects Minimum Requirements: Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future Must have completed formal training in and/or have at least one (1) year of work experience applying continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean, etc. Must have a bachelor's degree or higher or have at least four (4) years of work experience in a manufacturing and/or distribution facility or in an operations environment Must have at least five (5) years of experience working in a manufacturing and/or distribution facility or in an operations environment Preferred Qualifications: Have at least one (1) year of experience in leadership role(s), supervising others, or leading teams Have Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt, Black Belt, etc.) Have prior work experience using timekeeping and/or production control systems Have prior work experience using a safety management system Have prior work experience leading or participating in an OSHA VPP Audit or maintaining VPP status Have prior work experience managing profit and loss (P&L) Have prior work experience in the paint or chemical processing industry Have previous work experience in a multi-shift operation Sherwin-Williams is proud to be an Affirmative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity, Inclusion and Diversity Supportive Employer.
