JOB SUMMARY:

We are a focused team, dedicated to the success of our public and private school communities in Columbus and throughout southern Ohio. We believe there’s nothing more important than the safety and security of the passengers on our buses. As a Mobile Bus Technician for Complete Bus & Specialty Vehicle, you will play a vital role in ensuring our customer are on the road and passengers are safe.The Mobile Bus Technician will work out of a service truck, covering Central Ohio territory, without the normal support functions of a service shop, working to diagnose malfunction and breakdown of school buses, and perform necessary repairs to get the bus back up and running. Repairs will be made on engines, drive train, chassis, electrical systems, and vehicle interior.

Additional responsibilities of the Mobile Bus Technician:

  • Communicate necessary information to Service and Parts departments

  • Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.

  • Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.

  • Attain industry certifications as required.

  • Keep abreast of manufacturer updates and technical bulletins.

  • Mentor less-skilled technicians as assigned.

  • Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, such as EPA, OSHA, and DOT.

  • Always working in a safe manner.

  • Report any safety issues to management immediately.

    REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent will be required

  • Cummins Medium Duty Engine certification will be strongly preferred

  • Must have a valid and clean Class B Commercial Driver’s License as required by company policy

  • Five years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of vocational education and experience

  • Preferred school bus repair experience with multiplex wiring, understand the school bus operating systems and Braun wheelchair lift

  • Preferred understanding of the Ohio State inspection process of school buses annually.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Lifting/Carrying 40 lb. Lift/Carry and 50lb pulling; Standing/Sitting Up and downstairs, standing, sitting, and climbing into machines; Dexterity Normal; Repetitive Motions Frequent movement requiring hands, wrists, and fingers; The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
